Water Project Information

Residents in the Crystal Falls Township have seen numerous changes directly associated with the water project.  Changes have occurred in billing security deposits, and meter installation.  Here is an update on the changes and how they affect our customers.

Meter Installation

All township water customers will have a water meter on their home to measure water usage.  If you do not have a meter installed yet, you must contact Lortie Plumbing of Crystal Falls (875-3859) to set up an appointment.  Residents are reminded to upgrade their service line to approved plastic or copper before Oct 31, 2008.  Please contact township supervisor Tom Lesandrini if you have any questions related to this issue (phone 250-5470).  Here are the contractors in the local area that install plastic/copper water lines:

Billing

Township customers are billed monthly for water and sewer.  We are now billing your actual usage (see sewer rate and water rate for more information). Usage reads will be on every bill and is located near the middle on the bill on the right hand side.  If you do not understand your bill please contact the township office.  The minimum amount charged will be $25.00 (for up to 4380 gallons). Additional usage will be charged at the rate of $5.71 per 1000 gallons, or portion thereof.

Occasionally we hear from customers who do not receive a bill in the mail.  All customers are sent a bill and it is beyond our means to ensure timely delivery to our customers once they leave our office for postal handling.  If you do not receive a monthly bill you still have to pay your balance due by the due date.  Due date is the 20th of each month.  Please call the office if you find you have not received a bill.  Non-payment of your bill will result in additional penalties, interest and security deposit due.

Security Deposit

Any account with a balance due on the last business day of the month will be assessed a one time water and/or sewer security deposit on the next billing cycle.  Security deposits are four times the minimum amount due for each utility service.  $100 for water and $160 for sewer.  The office cannot stress enough that if you have penalties and/or interest due at the end of the month and they are not paid on the last business day of that month (we are not open on Fridays) then you will be charged the security deposit.  Please remit the penalty amount if your payment will be made after the due date.  All new accounts within the township are also required to pay the security deposit for each service.
